Rules & Regulations


usssa is allowing unlimited guest players for the fall 2024 season!

All guest players must be added before friday at midnight.  


THE 2024 fall season will begin on August 15th.

​any events after august 15th must have your team registered for the 2024 season.

PLEASE REGISTER OR RE-REGISTER YOUR EXISTING TEAM FOR THE 2024 SEASON (NOT 2023).

PLEASE  BE  SURE  TO  REGISTER  YOUR  TEAM  WITH  USSSA  AND ADD A TEAM  ROSTER.

ANY TEAM THAT DOES NOT HAVE AN ACTIVE ROSTER RUNS THE RISK OF A  FORFEIT.

2022 Rule Changes for Baseball (Effective 1/1/2022):

​ - Rosters will no longer be frozen.

- 3.05.C Once a player has been rostered for the season, they may not be added to a team with lower classification in the same age group or younger age group without state director approval. (When the coach tries to add a higher-class player to his roster a box will come up saying the player is not eligible. An automatic email will be sent to the state director. The state director will either approve or deny the request)

​-3.05.D Once a player is released from a roster, they may not be added back to that roster without state director approval. (When the coach tries to add a higher-class player to his roster a box will come up saying the player is not eligible. An automatic email will be sent to the state director. The state director will either approve or deny the request)

-3.06.H From the beginning of the season to December 31st teams can add unlimited Guest Players per weekend or per event.

-3.06.I From January 1st to the end of the season Guest players will be limited to 3 per weekend or per event.

-The Beginning and End of the season will now float. The season will end on a Tuesday in Mid-August.

-5.06 To Qualify for the state tournaments, teams must play in a minimum of 3 sanctioned USSSA events or be approved by their State Director.

-7.01.G In all age divisions 14u and below, the catcher’s helmet shall fully cover both ears.

-7.04.E A dead ball appeal can be appealed directly to the umpire, without the Pitcher throwing to the appealed base. Only one dead ball appeal is allowed on any play.

Coach Pitch Rule Update:

-8.14 The batter shall receive a maximum of six (6) pitches or three (3) swinging strikes. (The bat is extended if the last pitch is hit foul)

​1. how many innings can a player pitch in a day/weekend?

7u-12u:

max, no rest: 3 innings
1 Day max: 6 innings
2 day max: 8 innings

13u-14u:

max, no rest: 3 innings
1 day max: 7 innings
2 day max: 8 innings

15u-18u:

unlimited


If a player 7u-14u pitches more than 3 innings (9 outs) in a day, then that player can not pitch the following day.



2. CAn my pitcher do the third to first move?

No. under usssa and major league baseball rules, that is a balk.



3. What is the run rule?

7u-12u: 2 innings: 20 runs
7u-12u: 3 innings: 15 runs
4 innings: 8 runs
13u-14u: 3 inning: 15 runs
4 innings: 12 runs
5 innings: 8 runs




4. what is your extra inning rule?

No extra innings in pool play. the game ends in a tie.

In bracket play, we start with a runner on 2nd base with no outs. Last batted out is the runner.




5. Do you start a new inning with less than 5 minutes on the clock.

yes, we start a new inning if there is 1 second on the clock.

As soon as the third out of the bottom half inning is made, the new inning starts.




6. What are your bat rules?

8u-12u: all bats must have the 1.15 bpf usssa stamp
13u: all bats must have the 1.15 bpf usssa stamp and be -8 or heavier
14u: all bats must be bbcor or wood

AS far as bat rules, we treat all 14u events as if they are "major events". no -5 bats will be permitted in 14u.

no, bunting and stealing are noT allowed in 8u.

9. what arE the batting order options?

Teams can bat however many players they would like as long as it meets the minimum requiremEnt for that age.

10. if i start a game with 8 players, Is the 9th spot in the lineup a automatic out?

no, it is not.

11. if i am batting 9 players and one is removed From the game for any reason, is that player now an out every time they come Up?

Yes, that player will be an out every time they come up in the batting order.
