New Age/Class Requirements for 2021 Beginning August 1,
We will follow NFHS rules for all live arm baseball New Age/Class Requirements for 2020 All grade based players (Play Down Players Only) must have a copy of their “current report card or official school ID with the current grade on it”, no exceptions. Failure to produce one on demand will result in immediate forfeit for that team & disqualification from that event. Wheel Pitch teams will NOT recognize the grade level age. We will strictly go off of age for all wheel pitch divisions. PITCHIng machine distAnce 8u -40mph @ 42ft 10u -46 mph @ 46ft coach pitch distance 8u- 35ft Coaches, if you are going to carry one or more of these players to an event YOU are responsible for having the correct documentation, and we will not issue warnings. You will be disqualified on the spot regardless of whether or not Players are actually legal. ALL Home School Players are bound by May 1, 2019 age cutoff and not eligible for grade considerations at this time 2018 Grade/Age Requirements with Class Exceptions. 8U Division Players who turn 9 prior to May 1 of the current season are not eligible unless they are in the 2nd grade. Also, any player turning 11 prior to May 1 will not be eligible. Players who are 9u are eligible for this division regardless of their grade. 10U Division Players who turn 11 prior to May 1 of the current season are not eligible unless they are in the 4th grade. Also, any player turning 12 prior to May 1 will not be eligible. Players who are 10u are eligible for this division regardless of their grade. 11U Division Players who turn 12 prior to May 1 of the current season are not eligible unless they are in the 5th grade. Also, any player turning 13 prior to May 1 will not be eligible. Players who are 11u are eligible for this division regardless of their grade. 12U Division Players who turn 13 prior to May 1 of the current season are not eligible unless they are in the 6th grade. Also, any player turning 14 prior to May 1 will not be eligible. Players who are 12u are eligible for this division regardless of their grade. 13U Division Players who turn 14 prior to May 1 of the current season are not eligible unless they are in the 7th grade. Also, any player turning 15 prior to May 1 will not be eligible. Players who are 13u are eligible for this division regardless of their grade. 14U Division Players who turn 15 prior to May 1 of the current season are not eligible unless they are in the 8th grade. Also, any player turning 16 prior to May 1 will not be eligible. Players who are 14u eligible are eligible for this division regardless of grade. 15U Division Players who turn 16 prior to May 1 of the current season are not eligible unless they are a freshman in High School. Also, any player turning 17 prior to May 1 will not be eligible. 16U Division Players who turn 17 prior to May 1 of the current season are not eligible unless they are a sophomore in High School. Also, any player turning 18 prior to May 1 will not be eligible. Youth Bats- NON BBCOR Bats must have the 1.15 Stamp on it. any player using a bat without a stamp will cost his manager of record a first time warning, and a second time the manager will be ejected, and bat confiscated until end of the event or teams exit from event. Know what your kids are swinging Any bat that the end cap comes off of will be confiscated until the end of the tournament for inspection, at which time it will be returned to the team upon its exit. If you think your bat is in question, leave it in your bag! Any team that refuses to allow inspection of its bats will be ejected from the event (if you have nothing to hide it shouldn't be an issue). We take player safety very seriously at SGA and we have no room for cheaters who endanger our players. These events are all about kids & fun Bats for Machine Pitch Any bat 2 1/4 (1.15 or USA stamp) except Easton Red Stealth Any bat bigger than 2 1/4 must have the USA Stamp on it (2 5/8 & 2 3/4) Bats for coach pitch all bats must be stamped bpf 1.15 and all bats are ACCEPTABLE. (easton red stealth 2 1/4 are not allowed) Bats for Live Arm 12u and Younger: All Bats must be stamped BPF 1.15 and all bat sizes are acceptable (Easton Red Stealth 2 1/4 are NOT allowed) 13u (-3 bbcor, -5 Only) Bats must be stamped BPF 1.15 if not bbcor 14u (-3 bbcor only or wood) 13/14u when combined will 14u bat rules 15u & 16u (-3 bbcor only or wood) 9u Closed Base rules Amendment No leaving the base until the ball crosses the plate Bunting is allowed If the umpire determines a runner leaves early, 1st offence a warning will be issued and the runner will be returned to the base. 2nd offense on the same team, the runner will be declared out. Stealing home is allowed after the ball crosses the plate Pitching Rules Once a pitcher has been removed from the mound and the next pitcher takes his first warm up toss from the mound, that pitcher MAY NOT re-enter the game as pitcher. Coaches take care of your pitchers. We won't count pitches, but please monitor your own team. Game Times Game time starts at completion of coaches meeting, umpire will announce time on his watch. The umpire will be the one to keep the time. Home Team: Determined by coin flip in pool play, elimination play home team is the higher seed UNLESS they choose to be visitor. Home team is required to keep the official book. Player Minimum: A team can start with and finish with 8 players but must take an “Out” in vacated batting position until 9th player arrives at the field and can be written in to 9th position in the line-up. Time Limits: 1:30 for pool games and 1:45 for ALL elimination games (including championship games). Pool games can end in a tie. Elimination games can only end in a tie due to weather or Park participation restrictions only. ALL TIED ELIMINATION GAMES AFTER REGULATION WILL AUTOMATICALLY GO TO LAST BATTED OUT ON 2ND BASE AND NO OUTS TO BEGIN EXTRA FRAMES. Any tournament that is called off due to weather will be considered frozen from the last completed games and the way the teams are in the brackets will determine the placements (higher seeds over lower seeds). SGA Reserves the right to change game times (Pool & Elimination) based on playing & weather conditions . No metal cleats in the following age groups: 11u and younger. Pitchers may not wear metal cleats on any of the portable mounds. Uniforms: Numbers mandatory, matching uniforms not All age groups can have an EH (Extra Hitter) if they choose to bat 10. Both a DH and EH may be used at the same time. Teams can also choose to bat their entire roster. If this option is chosen, then you can used the last batted out for your courtesy runner for pitcher and catcher. FREE DEFENSIVE SUBSTITUTIONS THROUGHOUT THE GAME EXCEPT FOR PITCHER. PLAYERS DO NOT HAVE TO BAT. ALL PITCHING AND LINE-UP CHANGES WILL BE RECORDED Visits to the mound: As per NFHS rules, each team are allowed three charged visits to the mound within a game. A charged visit is a trip in which the manager or coach does not remove the pitcher. After the three charged visits are used, every trip to the mound will result in the pitcher being removed. Run Rules: 20 after 2, 12 after 3, 10 after 4, 8 after 5 A forfeit is scored 1 run per inning played (Ex... 6-0 or 7-0). Any team that can not produce a birth certificate upon request will be forced to forfeit the game. Anytime a team volunteerly ends the game early due to it's an automatic addition of 10 runs to the already runs allowed at that point. Ex.... A team says they're not finishing the game and it's 15-5, they'll than be on paper as given up 25 runs. Birth Certificates: Will be required for each participant. Each team is responsible for keeping their BC's with them throughout the entire event. An age protest, like any other protest, requires a $100 cash protest fee. If a protest is lodged against your team, you MUST provide proof of age. If you can not do so, you lose the protest and the protesting team gets their $100 back. If you are able to prove proper age for your player, the protesting team loses the protest and the protest fee. $100 for TWO PLAYERS. Boys Baseball Machine Pitch 8u Wheel Pitch Rules NO bunting and stealing All 2¼ bats are allowed (except Easton Red Stealth and USA Stamped big barrels are allowed) No pearl baseballs (team provides their own ball) NO infield fly rule Run rule: 12 after 3, 10 after 4, 8 after 5 60 minute time limit finish the inning Curtsey runner for catcher only (sub if available or last batted out) Machine digital setting at 40mph Time is only called once the umpire deem all base runners have stopped NO slashing 3 called strikes or 3 swinging strikes and the batter is out. 10u Wheel Pitch Rules Bunting and stealing is allowed All 2¼ bats are allowed (except Easton Red Stealth and USA Stamped big barrels are allowed) No pearl baseballs (team provides their own ball) Infield fly rule is in effect Run rule: 12 after 3, 10 after 4, 8 after 5 60 minute time limit finish the inning Curtsey runner for catcher only (sub if available or last batted out) Machine digital setting at 46mph Runners can run without stopping on a batted ball (errors) Time is only called once the umpire deem all base runners have stopped Runners must stop at 3rd if it’s an overthrow from a catcher’s attempt at throwing out a runner Runner can go from 1st-3rd on a steal (they don’t have to stop at 2nd) If the ball hits the machine it’s a dead ball and the base runner’s only advance when forced. NO SLASHING 7u and 8u Coaches Pitch Rules 1. A Ball must go 20-feet in front of home plate to be fair. A FAIR BALL Arc will be drawn on the field! 2. BIG BARREL BATS ALLOWED with a bpf 1.15 stamp. Infielders must stay behind the SAFETY ARC until the ball is hit. This line is 30-feet from the 1st base to the 3rd base line in front of home plate. 3. A base runner is out for leaving the base before the ball is hit or reaches home plate. Stealing is NOT allowed. 4. 10-Players will play in the field with 4-outfielders. The 4th outfielder may NOT assume an infield position. All outfielders must stay BEHIND the base line. 7. FREE substitution on defense. Batting order must remain the same. 8. NO bunting! 9. Defensive coaches are NOT allowed on the field of play and must coach from the dugout or on fence adjacent to dugout (not on outfield fence) 10. Umpires will call time after EVERY PLAY and declare the ball dead. Time should be called as soon as the lead runner is not attempting to advance. Time does NOT have to be called by the participants. 11. A player can only be intentionally walked one time per game. 12. Infield fly rules do NOT apply. 13. A batter shall receive a MAXIMUM of 6-pitches or three swinging strikes. A player fouling the ball off on the 6th or subsequent pitches can continue their at-bat until they take a pitch, swing and miss or hit the ball. 14. Courtesy runner for the catcher ONLY! Must be the player that made the last batted out. IF no outs have been recorded the courtesy will be the previous batter NOT on base. 15. When a batted ball hits the Pitching Coach, the following rules shall apply: A) If in the umpire's judgment, the coach did not make a legitimate attempt to avoid contact, the batter is declared out and no runners shall advance.
